My process begins with pencil drawings to map out my ideas and concepts. I then use a combination of saws, carving tools and sanders to bring my ideas to life with wood. I strive to use non-toxic, biodegradable paints, stains and wood finishes to bring colour and more life to some of my creations - others I leave in their natural wood tones.

It all depends on the type, size and intricacy of the piece! It can take me anywhere from a few hours to a few days or weeks. If a piece needs a protective coating, it takes an additional 10-14 days before the piece will be dry enough for shipping.

I work with a variety of wood types including cedar, pine, birch, maple, poplar, mahogany, padauk, fir, oak, plywood and others. I strive to use recycled and thrifted scraps/off-cuts so wood types may vary. I am able to order specific wood types if requested for a custom project.

I have decided to work primarily with products from The Real Milk Paint Co. They are non-toxic, biodegradable and child-safe. You can read more about their products by visiting their website. I also use acrylic paints.
