HELLO & WELCOME!
I'm Ellyn, a self-taught woodworker, artist and the creator of Ellynwood Designs. My small garage workshop is located on the Coast Salish territories of the Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) in beautiful Brackendale, British Columbia.

Both creativity and nature bring me an inner peace like nothing else and they have always been a big part of who I am. I feel a deep connection to all the mountains, forests and wild things that draw one to the west coast. I've dabbled in many careers and creative mediums over the years and began woodworking in 2020 when searching for a new path.

In the summer of 2023 my food inspired art piece, "Dinnersaurs" placed 1st the Makers Challenge Central Scroll Saw Challenge. August 2024 my full maker story was printed in Edition Eleven of international publication We Are Makers.

I create custom, one-of-a-kind wooden art and home decor. My work includes a little bit of everything. From mountain landscapes, animals, custom signs, frames and puzzles to furniture enhancements, business logos and more!
To create my pieces, I sketch out my designs and then use a collection of saws, sanders and carving tools to bring them to life with wood. All of my pieces are handmade - no fancy automated cutting machines in this shop!
To minimize my impact on the environment, I use recycled or scrap wood and repurpose them into something beautiful. I collect small wood scraps from fellow wood professionals, wood processing businesses, and construction sites, as well as broken or unwanted wood furniture. I work with paints, stains and wood finishes that are non-toxic, biodegradable and child-safe. These days I mostly work with Real Milk Paint Co. products!

I am also proud to support Tree Canada. A portion of every purchase is donated to support Tree Canada's efforts to grow better places to live.
